Makaio Toft is a writer and producer whose work makes audiences laugh first, and then realize what they’re laughing about later.

Her BFA capstone play, HEAT, is currently being developed for a secondary production by an NYC based producing team. Other recent projects include her third residency at IRT Theater with Wake and the short film You Haven’t Changed. She has taken original work to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and previously won a category in the All American High School Film Festival.

Writing across film and theater, she is expanding 35k into a sustainable company that develops provocative work built for the new landscape of the entertainment industry.
